Sydney ECP Congestion (NNF 2020/167)

IFCBAA has been addressing this significant issue through the following actions:

  1. Contact has been made with all major shipping lines requesting details of their actions to address this issue, in addition to demanding detention time extensions due to these circumstances which are beyond the control of members and their carriers

  2. A formal meeting with Transport for NSW and senior representatives with the NSW State Government has been arranged to address this issue, stevedore forced charges and conditions and IFCBAA’s previously proposed solutions to the current challenges that face Port Botany

  3. IFCBAA has requested that Transport NSW intervene in the current ECP situation, which operationally has caused the following problems for members:
  4. - Increases in late notices of container dehire redirections
    - Carriers being turned away with empty container dehire deliveries due to ECP confusion on redirection instructions
    - The absence of broadcasted time extensions to container detention time windows to industry, that must be granted by the shipping lines during this period, due to this situation leading to container dehire empty delays and associated detention charges that are totally beyond member’s control
