Port Botany Industrial action developments and update on congestion issues (NNF 2020/177)
DPW
and the Maritime Union agree to a temporary truce on Protected Industrial
Action at Port Botany and IFCBAA take strong stand on continued congestion
issues.
DPW
and the Maritime Union are returning to the bargaining table, as they attempt
to finalise negotiations on a new EBA for DPW’s Port Botany based stevedore
workers.
Both
parties withdrew their application just hours before the FWA Hearing on this
dispute was due to be heard on Saturday.
See
enclosed Media Release from the Hon. Christian Porter, Attorney General and
Minister for Industrial Relations.
IFCBAA
will monitor this situation, in addition to the existing Protected Industrial
Action that continues to be in place at Patrick and Hutchison Terminals at Port
Botany.
This
development will hopefully elevate one component of the congestion issues
currently being experienced at Port Botany, noting that this has not been the
root cause.
CEO
Paul Damkjaer will be providing a further update on IFCBAA’s continued dealings
at the highest levels with the Federal Government, ABF and the NSW State
Government, later this week.
More
broadly, Members will continue to see updates on IFCBAA’s continued strong
position on these issues (and proposed solutions to them) in industry and
general media.
