"What has changed?
The Department of Agriculture, Central East regional office (located at Crewe place Rosebery), sustained water damage following thunderstorms on Saturday night (25th April 2015).
While the department expects minimal disruption to our services, effective immediately, some changes, in accordance with those outlined below, will be introduced in recognition of infrastructure limitations.
1. Inspections of commercial air and sea freight will not be undertaken at the regional office until further notice. Goods requiring inspection will be directed to Quarantine Approved Premises appropriately registered for the intended goods. Staff will be deployed from the regional office to cope with the redirection of goods to alternative premises.
2. Preferred lodgment method for import documentation to be either through the Cargo Online Lodgment System (COLS) or email. Delays can be expected for documentation lodged in person at the regional office.
The department is working with the building owner to promptly address and rectify damage caused by the storm to return the office to full operations.
The department will continue to keep clients informed, particularly in the unlikely event of further changes to our service. We ask for your forbearance during this time.
